Together We’re Improving Health Care
Support Health Care in Bella Bella Bella Bella Medical Clinic and the Hailika’as
Heiltsuk Health Centre Society each provide
exceptional visiting specialist and therapy services
for the central coast communities of Bella Bella,
Denny Island, Klemtu, and Ocean Falls, including
more than fifteen specialists and 10 therapists.
Locally Driven Health Care Our shared specialist clinic will provide culturally safe access to medical care close to home; allowing for family support and increased privacy within a familiar environment. The clinic will create a consistent work environment for specialists and therapists where personalized medical treatment plans can be coordinated directly with local care providers.
Improved Health Outcomes For Our Communities The visiting specialist programs have outgrown the space available at Bella Bella Medical Clinic, R.W. Large Memorial Hospital and the Heiltsuk Health Centre. Expanding and sustaining the programs are key to improving the health outcomes of the residents of our Central Coast communities. The new space will feature: Purpose-built exam and interview space for 1800+ visiting specialty and therapy consults per year, virtual care and telehealth expansion, after hours wellness programs, and mental health support programs.
A strong, community-based partnership with Heiltsuk Health Centre, Heiltsuk Tribal Council and Vancouver Coastal Health The Visiting Specialist Clinic Project is supported by Bella Bella Health Coalition supporting the communities of Bella Bella, Klemtu, Denny Island and Ocean Falls in Heiltsuk and Kitasoo/Xai’Xais Territories. Thanks to your support we can ensure that patients living on the central coast have access to health care in their own community.
