Giving Tuesday 2022 - Lions Gate Hospital Foundation

THANK YOU FOR HELPING US MAX THE MATCH THIS GIVING TUESDAY

Thank you to everyone who generously made a donation on Giving Tuesday. Thanks to you, we raised an incredible total of $58,130! The funds will be added to our North Shore Lend a Hand Fund which supports vulnerable people in our community. A big thank you to the Chan Sisters Foundation for generously giving $20,000 in matching funds.

Our Lend a Hand Fund is a vital resource for North Shore health care teams who work with older clients dealing with chronic health issues and financial and social difficulties.

100% of the donations raised during Giving Tuesday will go to this important fund. Each donation we receive will also be doubled by matching funds up to $20,000 generously given by the Chan Sisters Foundation.

If you make a donation today, you can help us maximize the match and raise up to $40,000 for this vital community fund.

The emergency fund*, which was established in 2020 has been described as a game-changer by community nurses and social workers who have been able to cover the cost of unforeseeable crises and expenses for people quickly during critical moments in their medical care.

Even small amounts of support can make a big difference to clients who lack the funds to cover items and services such as groceries, dental work, prescriptions, transport to or from hospital, footwear, equipment repair or even cover some of the cost of a month’s rent.

The funds often bridge the gap for clients while staff help them to access longer-term financial support. Our frontline community care workers have been able to ensure that clients can leave acute care to go home and in some instances, the emergency gift has enabled clients to stay in their home.

Not only will your donations help avert a future crises for individuals, your donation will help reduce stress, improve living conditions, ultimately stabilize, and improve their state of health.

Social worker Rick Lawrie, who supports clients at the Health Connection Clinic near LGH says: “It’s had such an impact. Not just on my practice but also in the entire community I serve. Thank you so much and please, please, please keep supporting the fund. I think it’s irreplaceable.

With the festive season coming up, now is the perfect time to help replenish the Lend a Hand Fund to ensure that our community health care teams can continue to provide this extra help to their most vulnerable clients.

*The Lend a Hand Fund was established with a $250,000 donation by the Chan Sisters Foundation. The fund is managed by LGH Foundation.
