A determined spirit allowed Dorothy to overcome numerous obstacles and difficulties early in life and she devoted her time to raising three children with her husband as long-time residents of North Vancouver.

Dorothy then served as an office secretary for several district schools with her longest & final tenure at Carson Graham High School where she often walked to work. She was even known to dust-off her ski poles to make the trek on those rare snowy mornings.
