On March 10, 2025 our mom Mary Beaton passed after a long life. She was born in Aberdeen, Scotland on Dec 4, 1935 and a piece of her heart always remained there despite immigrating to Canada in the early 1960s.

Her life was not easy; marred by health issues since 1966 and spending the last 17 years in Evergreen House. Her health did not however affect her Scottish Spirit.

She loved her family – favourite memories include movies, dinners, road trips, coffees! She would have done anything for her two children, Lesley and Ross and also loved her one and only grandchild, William. Her love included Lesley and Ross’ partners Jim and Dorothy. The local family also included Anne, Ron, Alaine, Jon, Callum, Connor and Sara, Kyle, Evan – no holiday was complete without the love and genuine caring we share and will always have for each other.

My moms days were spent reminiscing about Scotland, listening to Scottish music and singing which was kept alive due to the much loved and frequent visits by her family – Jessie, Jim, Susie, Brian, Kristian and Daisy. These were not just visits but adventures usually involving numerous casinos and driving trips!

In 2008 Jim and Lesley took Mary “home” for a trip, wheelchair and all where she was able to be with her siblings Peter, Jessie, Jim, Richard and Susan – a trip of a lifetime! Her ashes will return to the waters off Aberdeen, Scotland where her heart always had a place.

We are deeply grateful for the caring staff at Evergreen House, who truly became an extension of our family.

Mary’s smile and singing will be dearly missed!
