Our Priorities and Impact at Lions Gate Hospital
With the support of our thoughtful and compassionate donors, Lions Gate Hospital Foundation accelerates progress and innovation in health care on the North Shore.
By funding life-saving equipment, the latest medical technology, state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure upgrades, more people on the North Shore can receive life-changing care.
From the new Paul Myers Tower and spinal robotics to the expansion in minimally invasive procedures, the Foundation and supporters are able to ensure that care is constantly evolving and improving to meet the changing needs of our community.
Our Current Priority: Re-Imagine Rehab
Our current campaign, Re-Imagine Rehab, will help us build a new inpatient unit that will provide support, not just for stroke patients, but the hundreds of people dealing with a range of neurological injuries and recovering from traumatic injuries, surgery and debilitating illness.
Over the past 10 years, LGH Foundation has invested $200 million of your donations to support many different areas of care at Lions Gate Hospital and all publicly funded health care facilities across the North Shore.
Progress and Innovation Never Stops
- The Paul Myers Tower opened in March 2025 and treated 10,000 patients in its first year, with spacious patient rooms and eight state-of-the-art operating rooms.
- The Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgical System, funded by 17 donors who contributed $5.5 million, is helping patients recover faster, with shorter hospital stays for some procedures. It’s one of only three in active use in British Columbia.
- A new Interventional Radiology suite, the first of two funded by 1,700 donors who raised $5.2 million, will help more than 1,000 patients a year with minimally invasive procedures.
- RapidAI stroke imaging, co-funded by the Foundation, helps stroke neurologists view scans on their phones within minutes and make faster treatment decisions.
- Advanced prostate biopsy technology gives patients a safer, more comfortable screening experience.
- The West Vancouver Adult Day Centre at Kiwanis Village West, supported by a $3.65 million donation from the Foundation, provides care and connection for adults experiencing dementia and cognitive decline.
What's Coming Next
The opening of the Paul Myers Tower has freed up space elsewhere in the hospital for important improvements. Next on the horizon are a new Oncology Clinic that will double current capacity, a second Interventional Radiology suite, and the new rehabilitation unit.
Progress and Innovation Never Stops
Over the past three years, the Foundation has purchased more than $27 million dollars in equipment to support care in areas including the Paul Myers Tower, Division of Neurosurgery, the Cast Clinic, Emergency Department, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Community Nursing, Wound Care, the LGH Neurosciences Program, Hospice and Palliative Care and the Intensive Care Unit.
Donors also support the people behind the care. This year, the Foundation funded nine educational awards for 32 North Shore health care staff, with more than $75,000 invested in continuing education.
