On #GivingTuesday, Give the Gift of Breath
This Giving Tuesday, your contributions support Lions Gate Hospital’s most critically ill patients. As our community has grown, the number of patients requiring advanced critical care at LGH has doubled in a decade. Today we want to support these patients by purchasing a piece of critical care equipment for patients who need ventilation to get the air they need.
What is a Mobile Ventilator Mobile ventilators are portable machines that support breathing. They deliver room air or oxygen-enriched gas to patients who are unable to breathe on their own.
Who Will This Help Patients suffering from pneumonia, COPD, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neuromuscular disease, and/or strokes require a ventilator. The use of a ventilator is also common during and after surgery.
MOBILIZING HEALTH CARE Standard ventilators significantly restrict the mobility of patients, creating challenges for both patients, and their care providers. Mobile ventilators help patients transition from the ICU to a standard ward, Evergreen House, or home.
A Breath of Fresh Tech to Critical Care Patients As a major Trauma Centre; one of only five Neurosurgical Centres in the province; and a Regional Advanced Stroke Centre, LGH has expanded into more than the little community hospital it once was. The demand for more critical care resources is growing, and together this Giving Tuesday we can make a meaningful impact on those who need it the most.
Thank-you to our community partners, Oxygen Yoga North Vancouver and Oxygen Yoga West Vancouver, for accepting donations in studio for a new mobile ventilator on Giving Tuesday! Donations can be made on December 3rd in studio at Oxygen Yoga’s North Shore locations. Donations can also be made online below.
