Darlene MacKinnon, Vice President Coastal Community Care

A Registered Nurse with 30 years of experience caring for patients, clients and residents across acute, community and corporate services, Darlene brings a diverse background in clinical operations, professional practice, quality improvement and strategic planning.  Prior to VCH, Darlene was Chief Operating Officer at Provincial Health Services overseeing B.C. Mental Health and Substance Use Services. She has also served as Vice President and Chief of Zone Operations at Nova Scotia Health Authority, Executive Director at Fraser Health Authority overseeing Royal Columbian Hospital and Fraser Health’s Surgical and Cardiac Networks, and as Chief Clinical Planning Officer with Providence Health Care.  Darlene holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Dalhousie University, a Master of Health Administration from the University of British Columbia, and a Critical Care Nursing Specialty from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
