Dorothy Margaret Evers (Pearson, née Steele) passed away at Lions Gate Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Vancouver, she was the youngest of five children of Manlius and Bertha Steele. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Mylinda Pearson and Susan Pearson, grandson Christopher Mar, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister, brothers, and some extended family.

Dorothy lived most of her life in West Vancouver, worked at Telus until 1987, and was active in various community groups including the VSO, VOA, and the WV Lawn Bowling Club. She enjoyed travelling, lawn bowling, reading, and walking.

She resided at Westerleigh PARC Retirement Residence and later moved to the Berkley Care Centre. The family thanks the staff at both facilities and Lions Gate Hospital for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation in Dorothy’s memory.

Neil Symons was a salty sailor and a good friend to many. On July 18, after a brutal 3-year battle with cancer, Neil had medical assistance in dying at the North Shore Hospice. He was outside in the garden with his daughters, Renée and Holly, and his granddaughters, Grace and Ellie. The sun was warm and the breeze gentle. There was rum (the good stuff) and laughter and song. Neil knew he’d had a good run and he had no regrets. He loved life and he knew he was loved.

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Papa, Sip Kow (George) on April 15, 2024 at the age of 87.  He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Lions Gate Hospital.  Thank you to the caring doctors, nurses and staff at LGH Palliative Care who brought much comfort to his final days.

The kind and caring doctors, nurses and staff in Palliative and Hospice Care, and the quiet solace and beauty of the North Shore Hospice, brought such comfort and tranquility to his final days.

A long-time North Shore resident, Leon will be fondly remembered as a loving father, grandfather brother and uncle, accomplished civil structural engineer, an inventor with NASA and Boeing, champion of local civic issues and a genuinely nice guy.

Our beloved Papa, Thomas Wie Po, died of congestive heart failure on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023. He sailed on his last cruise from the North Shore Hospice in North Vancouver, Canada. He was 86 years old, roughly a month short of his 87th birthday on December 28, 1936.

For an impressive 35 years, Dr. Hahn dedicated his time and expertise to Lion’s Gate Hospital, where he served as a highly regarded Gastroenterologist. Patients throughout the community sought his care, grateful for his honest approach and compassionate bedside manner. His commitment to his patients was evident in his unwavering dedication and willingness to listen to their concerns, complaints, and dreams.

Loving father of Manjula (Jacques) Dufresne of North Van, Sahana (Hiran) Rajiyah (California), and Kalyani (Ray) Chung of Vancouver. Beloved grandfather of Krishnan, Uma, Nicolas, Sasha, Neelan and Jayan. Brother of Vani (Thirunavakarasu) of Toronto. Brother-in-law of S.Chandirakanthan (Belen) of Ohio and Shanthi Srikanthan of Colombo. Predeceased by brother A. Namasivayam and sister Thangamani, sisters-in-law Sathiabama Gunasingham and Wijeyalakshmi Tharmalingam, and brother-in-law S. Srikanthan. Lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews and friends all over the world.

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Peter Walley Lightbody, lovingly known also as Pades (short for “Pedro”) and Little Pete, age 56 years old, on February 3, 2023. He passed at Lions Gate Hospital from a quickly escalated cancer, surrounded by loved ones.

Dorothy Keiko Kishi, born June 28, 1931, passed away suddenly on February 13, 2023. Predeceased by her husband Kyue Richard Kishi and daughter Sandra. In lieu of flowers or koden, donations to Lions Gate Hospital Foundation in Dorothy’s name are gratefully accepted. The family would like to thank Vancouver Coastal Health North Shore south team for their compassionate care. Memorial service to be held at a future date.

Therese is survived by her husband Mario, children Michelle (Eric and Tecla) and Mario (Jodi, Mia and Luca), twin sister Anne, and many extended family members and friends.

Carol worked at Lions Gate for many years along with her work in England and Canada as a nurse and midwife. Carol and I (Brian Burtch) supported the Foundation’s work and I am continuing to donate monthly to support the North Shore Hospice and the Dr. Klimo oncology clinic. Carol had multiple treatments in LGH and VGH including surgeries, chemotherapy, immunotherapy. passed in the hospice on April 29, 2020.
